Isi artikel
Diversity in family organization has become a fact at the end of the 20th century. Scholars of family studies have found that there has been a shift from nuclear to plural family structures, including both single women and gays and lesbians with children. Thus, instead of viewing plurality as an indication of an apocryphal decline in American social development—the trend in research on family values that has been prevalent since the late 1970s—we should choose to be optimistic about the possibilities for greater tolerance in social relationships that medical and cultural innovations have occasioned.
