Conversational implicature is very important in communication. To know the effectiveness of a conversational implicature, a conversational implicature test is needed. This article will elaborate two different viewpoints of conversational implicature test by Grice and Thomas. At least there are six characteristics of conversational implicature test according to Grice, i.e. calculable, cancelable, nondetachable , non-conventional, reinforce able, and indeterminate. Whereas there are four characteristics of conversational implicature test employed by Thomas, namely: non-detachability and non-conventionality, implicature change, calculability, and defeasibility. From the two models employed, Grice’s model and Thomas’s model complement each other.
