Isi artikelThis article seeks to define a working methodology for qualitative research on racism and with racist participants. Specifically, the article proposes a principled research relationship built on collective, cultural relationships and accountability, and based on an incorporation of feminist practices and critical race theory conceptual frameworks. This argument suggests that to engage research for radical societal transformation, qualitative scholars must be able to move beyond the dominant frame of the individual participant and adopt the systemic and institutional analyses promoted by critical race theory. This article examines the ways in which the researcher can both honor research participants and analyze their narratives for an understanding of systemic racial oppression.
