Isi artikelThis article highlights the need for an empirically based developmentally relevant program for adolescents and their divorced mothers. A conceptual framework for program development and evaluation is then proposed for preventive intervention efforts desifned to reduce the prevalence of maladjustment in adolescents in single divorced - mother families and increase effective functioning of the mothers in those families. Attention is given to applied use of the growing literature on linkages between divorce and adolescent adjustment, and particularly to the role of several family processes in adolescents' postdivorce adjustment : maternal expectations, discipline, decision making and parent - adolescent relationships.
