When organizing a therapy group for the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), the ability of members to relate to others in the group is an important factor to consider (Allen & Bloom, 1994). Some have recommended creation of a homogeneous group in which members share similar demographic characteristics or have experienced a similar traumatic stressor (Robertson, Rushton, Bartrum, & Ray, 2004).
