One of the most difficult problems in understanding Ógbíá is the large number of homophones which occur in the language. Many lexical and grammatical words which sound alike have different meanings and syntactic functions. The central concern of this paper is the identification of the several meanings of the shape -m-. The functions of -m- include nominal complement marker, adverbial complement marker, deleted subject marker, agentive marker, habitual aspect marker, and locative particle.
