ABSTRACT Data from a prior research project involving 92 teachers from 11 elementary schools were reanalyzed using multiple regression techniques. In the reanalysis, student problem behavior was categorized according to verity (i.e. high or low) and was entered as an independent variable, first with teacher standards and then with teacher standards and gender to explain the variance in teachers' decisions to refer students for special education services.
