At the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, Budapest University of Technology and Economics basic control theory is taught for everybody as a basic discipline. For students specializing in direction of automation and robotics special control courses are offered. The course material of an intensive course on optimal control covering mainly state feedback and state estimation has been overviewed and modified recently introducing Matlab/Simulink computer laboratory exercises. Some features of the course are described here and teaching experiences are evaluated.
