Isi artikelThere have been some striking developments in the labour markets of the OECD countries over the last 15 years or so. In the US real wage growth has stagnated and wage differentials between skilled and unskilled labour have increased. In Western Europe quantity adjustments have been more evident, with marked increases in unemployment, but also some increase in skilled/ unskilled differentials. These developments have triggered a substantial research programme, one important ingredient of which has been directed at evaluating the role of international trade. Speci®cally, has the growth of trade in general and trade with low wage developing countries in particular been responsible for these developments?
