Isi artikelThis study has tried to find out whether primary students with certain learning styles get the most benefit in learning English under the existing classroom conditions. The problem answered by this study reads 'Which learning style group obtains the significantly highest English achievement at schools?' The subjects of the research are 201 fifth graders who come from 6 different primary schools in Surabaya. The subjects' dominant learning style is known from the responses to learning styles questionnaire. Their English achievements which are represented by the English scores are then statistically analyzed using one-way Anova (F test). The result shows that there is a significant difference in the English achievement between the learning style groups. The F calculation (using SPSS) is 3.319; it is significant because it results in sig = 0.038, which is smaller than 0.05. In order to find out further which learning style groups differ significantly in their English achievement, the statistical test of Multiple Comparisons is conducted. The result shows that the significant difference in the English achievement is found between the visual group and the auditory group, with the auditory group having the better language achievement.
