A nonlinear separation model and control method for slurry concentration and surface level system with high nonlinearity and with integral elements is investigated. Explicit procedures for constructing the separation model and for realizing the separation control by use of a conventional PID hardware are described. The controller constructed by the nonlinear separation model and control method brought satisfactory control performance for the slurry concentration and surface level control, and showed enough robustness to modeling errors and disturbances.
