This work compares the performance of three optimal controllers on a toy helicopter: (i) model predictive control, (ii) linear quadratic optimal control combined with a state estimator, and (iii) optimal linear quadratic output control. These three schemes obtainedsignificantly improved results over that achievable using classical control algorithms.
