The articles reports on the progress of Project Jupiter, a University Grants Committee funded project sponsored by the JANET (Joint Academic Network) user group for libraries and managed by Glasgow University. The project sought to train library staff in the use of the JANET computerized networked information system by means of seminars, published information, ad-hoc courses and other promotional activities. The article discusses the changes that have been made to JANET during the 5 years of the project and the ways in which these have been reflected in Project Jupiter and reports on the use of JANET within libraries; training in libraries; types of documentation developed for users; and, in particular, the setting up and success of the electronic bulletin board: Bulletin Board for Libraries (BUBL).
