The European Register of Microform Masters (EROMM) is one of the pilot projects in the implementation of the EC Action Plan for Libraries. The paper traces its history, and puts it in the context of national and international concern for microforms as a major instrument of preservation policy implementation. The feasibility study is described and analysed in detail, together with the issues which arise in planning EROMM. Finally, there is an account of the present situation (early summer 1991) and the likely future of the project.
