Rural people themselves are insisting on the right to health care. Discussion focussed on the preparation, training, and utilization of staff and on the organization, administration, and financing of health services in rural areas. Participants recommended the integration of curative and preventive care, regional administration for peripheral health services, effective supervision and communication with rural health personnel, and recruitment and training of auxiliary personnel locally, under conditions similar to those in which they will work.
