Abstract
An intensive village health improvement programme was begun in Taiwan as part of a community development programme. Its goal is to have the county or city provide the budget and personnel for mobilizing township manpower resources for intensive village health improvement. The programme includes personal hygiene, home sanitation, fly control, environmental sanitation, and family planning. Beginning in one village the programme is extended to other townships, one by one. Village health education nurses work closely with county advisory committees and with the township in organizing resources and training local workers. Details of instructions for families, training and conducting group meetings, and means used to maintain records and activities are given. Instructions are designed to be easily followed by local workers. Nine references are listed.
