Isi artikel
This survey was carried out in 1976 as part of the writer’s unpublished doctoral dissertation submitted in 1980 to Columbia University, New York. Based on an analysis of questionnaire responses from academic staff and postgraduate students in Nigeria’s six oldest universities, the study attempts to identify the most pressing library needs of the scholar in the Nigerian academic setting; to determine the scholar’s perception of the adequacy of library provision; and to ascertain his response to inadequacies in library provision. The implications of the findings are discussed in terms of the possible co-operative ventures that are also consonant with the level of Nigeria’s technological development.
