Isi artikel
This descriptive study focuses on the qualitative meanings of feminist Black men’s lives, gleaned from narrative patterns inherent in their life stories. The intent of the studywas to understand how each man evolved a feminist masculinity and his ability to change. Turning points were categorized as redemption (a positive experience following a negative experience), peak (a positive experience following another positive experience), or contamination (a negative experience following a positive experience). Most turning points were categorized as redemption narrative sequences, followed by peak, then contamination accounts. These narrative accounts help us to understand key life episodes that led some African American men to accept feminism as a guide for reconstructing their definitions and practices of masculinity.
