Isi artikelIn July 1981, the Department of Japanese Studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS) launched a Japanese language program. Japanese I (beginning) and Japanese II (intermediate) are currently offered. Japanese III (advanced) and Japanese IV (honours) are to be in- ’ troduced in 1983 and 1984 respectively. Thus, the NUS Japanese language program is in the midst of being developed. The organization of any new language program such as the NUS program requires the teacher to face a number of issues involving objectives, content and methodology. The purpose of this paper is to consider these issues and make an attempt to contribute to Japanese language education at NUS by suggesting practical approaches.
