2008 is a "political year" for Indonesia as the 2009 election approaching closer. Although the election is still one year away, the preparation for 2009 election has influenced the political dynamics in Indonesia. The fundamental political issue in election is how make the 2009 election as a strategic instrument to strengthen democracy. Since the end of the New Order regime in 1998, several political liberalization has allowed a more open political space and opportunity, as shown by the increasing number of [olitical parties.
