It is predicted and started to prove that only society with excellent human resources, can and will survive in our global world. In order to have excellent human resources, we need to educate our society. Sadly, Indonesia faces many loopholes related to educational process. One of the loopholes is in higher education system. To optimally utilize the function of higher education institutions, the Indonesia government has decided to provide autonomy for several campuses. Further, the article discusses four characteristics of campuses autonomy which consist of regional autonomy parallelism, uniqueness, national cohesiveness, market oriented, and professionally managed. It is suggested that campuses carry interchange of knowledge and skill with industries for the benefit of students as well as society. Minimum requirements for optimal results are transparency, accountability, fairness, and responsibility.
