Integration of two or more media, taking into consideration the characteristics of each medium, will produce a synergistic force. The Open Junior Secondary School (Sekolah Menengah Pertama Terbuka) has been pilot-tested the integration of printed media (in a form of books) and audio cassette to increase students’ learning outcome. Over the years, using mainly printed learning materials, the students find difficulties in mastering English course. Pronunciation and spelling were their main constraints. Integrating printed and audio cassettes is targeted to limit the students’ constraints. This article discusses justification for conducting the pilot project. Results from the five provinces (West Java, Central Java, south Sumatera, and West Nusa Tenggara) included in the pilot project are also presented.
