Interactive Radio Instruction (IRI) is one of the latest developments of using radio for education. The use of IRI for education in Indonesia so far is for helping students of Primary Schools and Open Junior Secondary Schools to understand their lessons easier. As expressed by the students, the benefits of using IRI among others are that they feel more motivated to learn, they can understand the lesson better, they feel more comfortable in expressing their ideas or opinions and in asking questions, they do not get bored to learn because the interactivity of the learning program and the active learning created during the use of IRI, and it helps increase their learning performance. The teachers feel that their teaching becomes more interesting and varied and they have more time to provide individual guidance for students. Aside of the benefits, there were also some constraints and limitations in using IRI. Among others are attitude of some school headmasters and teachers who feel that the use of IRI is an additional burden in teaching.
