Isi artikelThis study was conducted to investigate students' learning styles and characteristics of student learning strategies. A number of 273 UT students was assigned by stratified random sampling to participate in the study. The data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings show that, UT students tends to have visual learning style. When reading modules, students underline important ideas, do exercises and formative tests, and make notes. Students like to study individually. They study when they have time. Students participation in a study group and tutorials is low. The results of the study imply that UT should develop an instrument of learning style which students can use and analyze by themselves. In addition, UT should provide an academic consultation in order to help students study effectively and productively. The findings of this study also pose interesting questions which demand further study.
