This study was aimed at finding out the relationship between students’ rating on instructional control (X1), learning attention (X2), length of study (X3), and self-directed learning readiness (Y). The population consisted of 25 - 30 years’ old students of the Indonesian Open Learning University at the Social Sciences and Political Studies Department who enrolled in Jakarta. The study utilized a survey method. Sample was selected using simple random sampling. The data were collected by mail. The relationship between the three independent variables simultaneously and self-directed learning readiness is indicated by a multiple correlation Ry.123 = 0.432 (p< 0.01) and a regression equation Y = 38.646 + 0.279 X1+ 0.180 X2 + 0.334 X3 (p<0.01). Further analysis using Component Analysis reveals that among the three variables under study, students' rating on instructional control describes most of the variances of self-directed learning readiness (13.2% of 19%).
