Evaluation on the relationship between index of egg shape and percentage of egg hatched on native chicken strain Arab has been conducted at Balai Penelitian ternak Ciawi Bogor on September-October 2001. There were 200 eggs of native chicken Arab strain used as sample in this research. The objective of this evaluation was to determine whether there is a correlation between index of egg shape with its hatching ability. In order to prove the hypothesis, the completed random design and LSD test as the method of evaluation. The result showed that there was a positive correlation between index of egg shape and its hatching ability. It's found out that the oval egg has a higher hatching ability than a spherical or tapering egg shape.
