Indonesian culture is basically not original, in terms of influences from the outside. However, this does not show that elements of foreign culture can directly become reference to local people. In Indonesia, each tribe develops different frames of reference to distinguish one social group to another. The frames of reference has the following systems: organization, living, religion, technology, and art. With these perspectives, Indonesian culture can be viewed as tribal, local, and national culture; each of which develops. Indicators of the development process exist as gaps among the tribal, local, and national culture.
