Credit system is one of the most important innovations ever introduced in the context of Indonesian (higher) education. Unfortunately, scientific or popular writings on this issue are very rarely found (both in its birthplace, the USA, or in Indonesia). Therefore, despite its relative popularity, not much is known about the details of this system, especially those one related to the short coming of the system. This article is based on the results of a dissertation research conducted by the author. In this case, the topic is focused on the weaknesses of the credit system, i.e. the ones related with knowledge fragmentation; credit transfer; "time"; component; students' learning time; teaching competency of lectures; contact hours; system efficiency; output quality; and role of universities. The most serious weakness conceming the "credit hour" is discussed more thoroughly.
