The main objective of this research is to analyze economics variables impact on consumption of energy from woods. It is important to conduct this research because of oil crisis which is not only affected earth-source oil but also woods. This is especially true in dense area such as in Java, Madura, and Bali (IPB & Diperta Bogor, 1981). The results of this research will be a valuable assets to direct policy's strategies aimed at descreasing used of forestry energy. Research on rural energy consumption in Indonesia has been widely conducted. However, up to 1980's, the focus was on measuring total amount of the consumption and total for reliable measurement. Nevertheless, since 1980's research has been started to find variables responsible for household energy consumption, with main focus on social variables. How economics variables play a role in this traditional energy consumption's pattern has not been explored yet. Since it is important to know the impact of economics variables on traditional energy consumption, this research tried to analyze such impact. Konto Hulu riverside has been chosen as a sample area for this research since this area is one of prioritized areas in Forestry National Development project started in 1979. In addtion, heavy usage of forest resourcest in this area has decreased it. It is estimated that about 120,000 m3 woods were illegally cut yearly (Proyek Kali Konto, 1982 & 1986). With increasing number of population in the next years, total wood consumption will go up which in turn destroys earth and water in the forest.
