Labour movement anywhere is never unrelated to social and political problems in society. Makassar during the period of 1945-1955 faced some complex social and political problems. As the capital of Eastern Indonesian State, Makassar faced a significant political development, in the meantime social and economic development were not in the right format. This condition created labour movements that endangered the position of the government. Labour strikes sponsored by Badan Perdjoangan Buruh (Labour Struggle Body) were meant to improve their life as well as to weaken the position of Dutch in the eastern Indonesian state so that all parts of eastern Indonesian could join united states of Indonesia.
