Multidimensional crisis that has been faced by Indonesian society has several impacts, in economic, education, and human resources development sectors. The article discusses how economic crisis influencing child education of farmer families in Baruga Subdistrict, Kendari, South-East Sulawesi. Based on data from 37 farmer families, the research concluded that the dropout rate of elementary and high school students is about 26,32%, of which are mostly elementary school students. The main reason for quitting school is related to financial aspect. The farmer families try to cope with economic problem in certain ways, such as finding side jobs and asking the children to work after school. To deal with this, the students' respondents were working after school, asking the parents to borrow money from a bank, and finding scholarships.
