The objectives of this are to describe and compare agricultural regional characteristic, roles of agriculture extension agents, farmers needs in relation with the roles in the implementation of community based agriculture. The location of the study is in Bandung Regency, West Java. Results of study indicates that the characteristics of agriculture in Bandung Regency considered ‘developed’. The role of the agriculture extension agents according to the opinion of themselves and farmers as dinamisators had the highest percentages compared to other roles (e.g. motivators, educators, organisators, communicator, and advisors). On the other hand, the role as an advisor had the lowest percentages. In conclusion, the roles of agriculture extension agent were not meet farmers needs in Bandung Regency as a developed region for successsful implementation of regional otonomy and community based agriculture.
