Presently ASEAN has laid its principles of cooperation under the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation. ASEAN comprised of developed and less developed states. ASEAN however is very concern about the economic disparities between its members and have taken measures to reduce the economic gaps between the developed and less developed member states. To realize its intention ASEAN have decided to embark on the concept of regional and sub-regional development. ASEAN has identified the Mekong Basin as the main development project and has also established growth Areas in the other regions. There need to be commitment of ASEAN members to realize the objectives of ASEAN. There is need to study and analyze the outcome of the concept of ASEAN regional development in intending to create a just and equitable world.
