Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a lymphoproliferative disorder of B cells, is the commonest form of leukemia in Western countries, with an incidence of 6 cases per 100,000 persons in North America1; since most cases are discovered through an incidental blood count, the prevalence of the disease may be even higher.
