Isi artikelExemplifying the increasing economic importance of world trade, the huge World Trade Center in New York City, started over seven years ago, is now virtually complete. It houses the offices of 800 international organizations and about 35000 importers, exporters, shipping agents, bankers, and other engaged in world trade. Although originally controversial, the center which includes five buildings, two of which are over 400 meters high, has proved architecturally as well as economically successful, in the opinion of the author. A native of New England, Russell Lynes is a 1932 graduate of Yale University and is among the best-known U.S. commentators on historic and cultural matters.
