Isi artikelThe constantly inquiring intellect of John Kenneth Galbraith, which has caused so many readers and students to consider issues in a new light, asserts that there are five main anxieties of our time, all economic in nature. In this article, based on a lecture given in Rome, he proceeds to deal with them in the literate, penetrating and controversial style which one has grown to expect. Of Scottish ancestry, Professor Galbraith was born in Canada in 1908 but has lived in the United States since he graduated from college. President John F. Kennedy once called him the best ambassador (to India 1961-63) he had. He is a former president of the American Economic Association, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Fellow of Trinity College Cambridge University.
