Treat, Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Energy Resources at the U.S. Department of Energy. In this interview with Economic Impact's senior editor, Mr. Treat emphasizes how essential cooperation between oil-consuming bations is and, looking further ahead, suggests a possible fruitful dialog between oil-producing and oil-consuming countries. An international economist, Mr. Treat graduated from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School and subsequently received a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies. He has served as th department's representative to the International Energy Agency's Standing Group on Long-term Cooperation, and represents the United States in the energy work of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.
