Isi artikelDespite much-publicized reports of U.S. unemployment, employment in the United States has grown faster during the last three years than at any time since the 1940s. Nearly 10 million new jobs have been created since 1975, as the U.S. economy surged strongly out of rrecession. Reflecting the growth of computerization, and increased emphasis on energy conservation as well as new foms of leisures, many of the new jobs are of a type that did not exist a few years ago, causing shortages of workers in female-dominated jobs such as secretarial and clerical work. This article was prepared by the editors of U.S. News & World report, aleading U.S. weekly magazine.
