Isi artikel
One of the first major economic policy announcements ade by President Carter following his inauguration was a comprehensive, many-sided, anti-inflation program. This proposals, which this article in large measure presents, include specific actions the Carter administration will take to reduce inflation while still vigorously pursuing its commitment to full employment and economic growth. There are three basic elements to the President's program: federal economic and budget policies that will promote employment and grwth but avoid overstimulation; specific targeted government actions to fight inflation, including policies to increase international trade which encoureages compettitive oprices and thus benefits comsumers; and a voluntary effort by business, labor and government to cooperate in controlling inflation, promoting steady growth and increasing job opportunities. The program rejects the idea of "coercive of self-defeating" statutory wage and priice controls.
