Isi artikelThe nervous system, with respect to viral infection, is unique since it is isolated from the immune system, and there are many types of "ultraspecialized cells" present. The system may be infected by both hematogenous and direct neural routes. SOme viruses invade the CNS from the bloodstream by entering the stroma of choroid plexus through the fenestrated capillary endotelium and then either infecting of being passively transported across the choroid plexus epithelial cells into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).
