Isi artikel
Depression has become the illness of our century, almost a symbol of modern times. Perhaps it is not very meaningful to refer to statistics, but according to some calculations afflicts 12% of the population. Because it is so widespread, depression has also been defined as being the 'common cold' of psychiatry. It afflicts men and women, young people and the elderly, the inhabitants of industrialised countries and of developing countries (cf. Nuber,1991,6).
