For reliving people of all countries by saving them from the menace environmental pollutions menace, proper enforcement of environmental laws is sine qua non. But the condition of enforcement in developing countries, including Malaysia, is not that encouraging. In some of the developing countries, the enforcement is depressing because of limited resources, lack of enough trained enforcement officers, lack of enough public participation, and above all, lack of high degree of good governance on the part of firms and on the part of departments responsible for enforcing environmental law. The paper discusses these variables and makes humble efforts to offer suggestions. It is expected that if these suggestions are internalized, the position will certainly improve. It is also warranted that developed countries should help in capacity building of their developing counterpart. |
