Manchuria-start of the slide into war More than 60 years have been passed since Japan's surrender to the Allied Powers. The responsibility for waging the war was dealt with by the International Military Tribunal for the Far East,known as the Tokyo Tribunal. The manner and circumstances in which the tribunal was administered have long attracted criticism and its verditcs were not those of the Japanese people.
