The present study aims to describe the usage of standard Indonesian in students's S2 (master) theses from Hasanuddin University. It focuses particularly on the use of diction and grammar usage, and investigates the students' mastery of Standard Indonesian. The research was conducted by using the descriptive method. The data for the study, taken from 38 students' theses, consist of 1617 items. The results show that 461 items were used ungrammatically and inappropiately. The students' mastery level of Standard Indonesian reached 71.49% (medium level).
