It was not the first time I had visited Bourj International College (BIC). That was in November last year, just as the light was fading, when the suburb climbing the hill behind the school was lit by pearls of street lamps. The school is on the main street of bustling small shops with some new, clean, modern blocks of flats nearby, but around it rises houses built in an older style that look to western eyes like stereotypical Palestinian towns of the first century AD. However, the streets here are full of cars and lorries threading their way between work and home.
