Isi artikel
GEORGE KHUSHF The realities of politics usually do not promote objective, clarifying discourse. To the contrary, each side attempts to characterize itself as the champion of long-held American values, while its opponent is vilified as the protector of privileged interest groups or, on other accounts, as the advocate of a regime that will follow the slippery slope into totalitarianism. Such approaches too often, by their rhetoric, obscure the fact that both sides may be advocating long-held but competing values that have very different implications for the role of government and public policy.
