In some of MSG research, they using animals with a high dose MSG and was given per os, parenteral and intra peritoneal. As a result, glutamate was an exitoxic (neurotoxic). In our population, MSG is used as a food additive and to be used for a long period, there is an assumption that it will be accumulated in our body. The study was carried out to imdocate whether there are disturbances on the hypothalamic neuron of the new born mice (Rattus rattus) whose mother were given MSG orally during gestation. THe control group (Group I). Groups terated with 20 X 120 mg/kg BW/day (maximum dose) (Group II), 40 X 120 mg/kg BW/day (Group III), 80 X 120 mg/kgBW/ day (Group IV). Qualitative result : 1. Microscopic Examination : cell edema and picnotic of neural hypothalamic nuclei around third ventricle in Group III and IV. 2. There is a significant correlation between dose and damages. Higher doses makes higher damaged degree.
