Isi artikelBackground : Clinical reasoning is cognitive process that is necessary to evaluate and manage a patient's medical problem. It is one of components of medical doctor's competencies. Aim : This paper is aimed to review the paradigm shifting in clinical reasoning models and discuss the practical implication of them Methods : Relevant literatures are chosen as a base for review and discussion. Results : Differ with the old one, the new paradigm of clinical reasoning considers clinical reasoning as a knowledge-dependent and the knowledge organization is a crucial factor in developing clinical reasoning skills. There are two basic categories of clinical reasoning model, process and content oriented models. Exposures to patient problems affect the development of clinical reasoning skills. Conclusion : The shifting paradigm and models provide insight to improve teaching learning process and develop tools for student assessment, as well as for curriculum evaluation.
