Clinical teaching is an important stage in medical education process. Assessment tools that used in clinical teaching have to have good quality. Many medical education institutions choose oral examination as their main assessment tool in their clinical teaching. Oral examination in clinical teaching has to high quality assessment tool. Creating high quality assessment tool must be supported by a good understanding about it's strengths and weakness. The dimension of oral examination, clinical competences and criteria of choosing assessment tool is a basic principles to evaluate the strengths and weakness of oral examination. There are six ways to improve oral examination to be high quality assessment tools in clinical teaching.
