Melasma is a common pigmentary disorder in females, affecting as many as 40% of Asian women. The cause is not spesific but attributed to genes, hormones, and solar ultraviolet radiation. The condition is recurrent, chronic and detrimental to quality of life. Tri-Luma is now recommended as first line therapy of Melasma by the Pigmentary Disorder Academy. This triple combination cream consisting of fluocinolone 0.01%, hydroquinone 4% and tretinoin 0.05% has proven to be efficacious and have minimal adverse effects on the skin.
